Another disappointing performance at the Butcher’s Arms saw the Bloods succumb to the their second successive defeat of the week.

Dave Pace’s team saw six changes from the side that lost 5-1 at Mossley with Sam Ramsbottom taking over in goal, Andy Langford, Ged Murphy and Danny Grimshaw in defence, Michael Pino in midfield and Billy Hasler Cregg up front.

The Bloods took the lead after a dogged first half when a corner from Trafford was cleared, the ball then threaded through by James Hampson for Dominic Smith to score.

Trafford were level two minutes later when Joel Melia was allowed two much room on the edge of the area to shoot home and they took the lead not long after when the same player crossed for McDonagh to head home.

Only an excellent save from Sam Ramsbottom denied Trafford a third, stopping McDonagh’s shot just before half time.

Droylsden were forced into a substitution at half time, with injured full back Ben Barber replaced by Danny Hewitt but Trafford continued to press and a third goal looked likely, finally coming after a Jack Dorney shot was well saved by Ramsbottom only for Chris McDonagh to score his second and secure the win.

The result leaves the Bloods in nineteenth place with fourteen points from fifteen games.

They play Harrogate Railway at home next Saturday
